About me
Hello there visitor! My name is Samantha Park, but I usually go by Sam. I am 18 years old and I am an illustrator and character designer.
Ever since childhood, I have always been very passionate about my goals in life. When I was five, I watched the Pixar film, Finding Nemo. From then on, I wanted to be a biologist and studied ocean life. However, a couple of years ago, something changed. I started to see the world differently. I looked at the effort that went into movie making instead of the movie itself. I found myself enraptured in the characters and the way they looked and acted. It had hit me. I found my creative side and felt compelled to draw, to share my creativity. I had realized myself. I knew what I wanted to do now. I wanted to be in the field of animation.
The problem was I didn't know what to do with this passion yet. I had to seek help, guidance, from others first. So I searched. I took as many art classes as I could, read every book, but I still was missing something. Then, I found something. A camp in an art college where they teach about film and animation. I was so excited yet nervous at the same time. There were guest speakers, special classes taught by people who were in the field, and you were able to meet so many people who were interested in the same things as you. It was a wonderful experience! However, it wasn't until the very last day that I realized what I wanted to do.
The last guest speaker we had, a very talented character designer, showed up to talk about what he does and why. I was so interested and amazed at what he had to say! I had never thought of the idea of being a character designer, the idea seemed so foreign, so unreachable, until it had finally slapped me right in the face! I was so happy, I finally realized what I wanted to do! It was an amazing experience and realization.
Presently, I have spent nearly four years working hard and perfecting my abilities and I feel like I am finally ready to share my work and self out to the world. I have spent every day, practicing, creating, making experiences for myself. I hope that you will give me the chance to improve and share my abilities with you, so that we will create bigger and better things, together.
